Default Anyone have a dead transmission from a drive shaft failure?

Might need to replace a solenoid in mine and an otherwise useless tranny would have what I need.

I was actually going to do a whole write up on my journey. Essentially it was an unloved Disco with a blown motor that someone bought had the motor completely rebuilt and decided owning a Disco wasn't for them.

So i essentially bought a clean rust free frame with a new motor. Surprisingly everything worked and one new hub chased the amigos away. I've put new tires new drive shaft new brakes and rotors new springs new shocks new drop Link and bar new ball joints.

Next weekend she will get new compressor new condenser and a new steering box.

Still has the original gas cap lol
For now

Normally when the driveshaft goes BOOM it will ruin the casing, solenoid pack, and pan.

My 99 D2 has scrapes on the casing/pan along with small dent in the floor, but she was lucky & no serious damage was done (happened before I bought it). I stand pretty firm with the removal of the lower front support. If the shaft goes BOOM it has a much better chance of dropping low enough not to hit the transmission. With that brace in place the drive shaft will just bounce off of it and straight into the transmission.

Are you looking for an HP22 or HP24 solenoid pack? Will over on Discoweb is selling complete HP22/HP24’s with a lifetime warranty for $250.00.

bummer, sorry to hear that :/

Upon reassembly it may be a good idea to remove your front crossmember. It’s the cross member that keeps the driveshaft up allowing it to whip around and take out your trans. I had to remove mine anyway due to my lift, but I’d probably pull it out anyway.
