Anything i should do before starting a newly installed 4.6?
I am finished prepping my slightly used (33k) 4.6 for installation and i plan on installing the motor this weekend. My understanding is that the ecu is the same and will be fine with the new motor. Is there any way to prime the oil pump? Is there anything that I should consider doing that I may not have thought of?
Thanks
Thanks
Pull the fuel pump relay and turn it over a few times with no fuel to prime the pump.
What did you swap? If you did not re-use your intake with the TPS and IAC, the ECU may have to have the adaptive memory reset.

First, consider replace the engine rear main seal as well as the tranny front seal.
As for the ECU, if you want all the snap from the 4.6, have someone with a high end scanner go in and switch the ECU from a 4.0 setting to a 4.6.
Keep an eye on the oil, if it gets a little dirty quicker then normal change it out early.
ALSO NEW PLUGS AND 8 MM WIRES.

Thanks for the tips, ill have to reuse the old tps and iac to save the trouble of resetting the ecu.

I have new plugs and magnacore 8.5mm wires that have under an hour of use from the old engine
