anyway to get to injector?
bad missfire on #6... found almost 3/4 of threads missing, need repair but in the meantime, i have no choice but to drive it, so i would like to disconnect the injector to help prevent whatever percentage of damage might be done by washing the cylinder with fuel the entire time and perhaps save whats left of the cats/o2s. my motorcycle was totalled so i now i am forced to use this as daily driver until i can get bike back up and running, if it can be so at all safely... but adjuster just came out the other day so it will be atleast a few days before i even get the money, then theres ordering the parts, installing them, and hoping the forks not fried.
think the previous owner already either tried that and failed, or blew out that plug...or both. id say almost half the threads down into it are missing completely. id give it a shot but i cant afford to mess up. i have the plug in there enough now that im confident it wont also blow out and the wire removed from it, im just worried about the constant run of fuel in that cylinder and oil contamination. its going to have to make half hour total drive time 5 times a week im guessing atleast for 2-3 weeks... and if the forks damaged, possibly perminantly... but atlest at that point i can throw the insurance money at the disco and get heads on ebay or such and have the gaskets done etc. which i was planning on doing before winter anyway. im just worried about the next few weeks and preventing any cylinder damage that will require a complete rebuild which at this point, i simply cannot afford, even if i get the full value of the motorcycle and sell what remains off!
Spark Plug Rethreading
Give this a try you can rent this kit out at most part stores, I have seen it used on T.V. dosnt seem to hard to do.

You can't run with one injector unplugged. You have no choice but to fix it or quit driving it before you cost more in repairs like new cats.
Have the hole tapped out and be done with it.

Just pointing out removing the plenum is not as difficult as it appears and disconnecting the injector is better than doing nothing. However, I agree with Mike, the only reasonable choice is to fix the problem.
It takes 20 mins to helicoil a spark plug hole, Bring it by... Worst case scenario, we have to put a ford style thread insert in. (fords blow the plugs out out constantly, like totally rip all the threads out bad)
