It is getting to the time where I need to start putting armor on my rig to prevent damage. I was wondering who made the best front and tank skid plates, diff guards, and rock sliders. I am looking to expand my options past lucky 8.

As far as diff guards are concerned, skip the Terra Firma ones. I used them and tore one off the trail. I ended up switching to the Rovers North ones (much beefier).

I have the mantec front skid and Columbia gas tank skid. Both are extremely beefy. I cant say I've ever worried about my steering bars with that plate in front of them.

If you have the money, check out rte-fab (Rovertym) I have purchased a 4.5 in lift, Front & rear bumpers, rock sliders, gas tank skid plate, & diff guards. The truck rides awesome and their stuff is heavy duty. Its pricey but works great...

I also tore off a Terrafirma diff guard. It's also pretty flimsy and rattles like nuts unless you put a rubber pad in between the diff housing. Thanks for the tip on Rovers North.

I have the aluminum Terrafirma gas tank skid. It's pretty good, but it doesn't fully cover the gas tank on the driver side... about 2" is exposed. And of course, I now have a fat dent on that edge

Not a lot of options out there other than Terrafirma for most stuff. TF rock sliders are pretty good, however I also bent both into the door frame and had to use an 8 ft pry bar to get it back (I blame the design of sill-mounted sliders, not the quality of the TF part)

I don't think a steering guard is necessary or that useful

What I am still trying to find is a skid plate for the undercarriage.... but no one makes them

I had some made to protect the drive shafts and the transmission few weeks ago.
i had a close call months ago. Tested the plate with floor jack and could raise the truck from the plate.
