Wellsince this thread is open I minus well ask a few questions.

1. I have a tick that is only noticeable on the side of the truck. I Believe it to be a worn or clogged lifter, or torque converter knock, on grounds i believe my tranny fluid is a bit low, as the the trick shifts firmand when I lift of the pedal I can hear the lash, on occasion, so Ill throw some seafoam in the oil, and some lucas stop slip in the tranny.
2. I have a slightly rough idle, and a intermittent oxygen sensor code, for example bank 1 sensor 1 and too lean codes. Im guessing my oxygen sensors need changing. Is it possible for me to clean them?
3. At some point i'm going to bosch double iridium plugs for durability over the platinums, so what do you guys think of this?

The truck overall drives fine but its little things i'm noticing. my fuel trims are running 11.0 so I know it needs some work. All vacuum lines have been tightened.

The driveline lash when you lift the pedal is normal.

The tick sounds like it could be an exhaust leak, the weak point in the exhaust is the welds just below the manifold gaskets. You can tell an exhaust leak because it gets quieter after the truck warms up. metal expands and closes the leak.

+1 on the PCV Oil separator, there is currently a thread on a fix for that here. https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...e-cover-90891/

Just get the cheap NGK BPR6ES plugs and you'll be fine.

Exhaust leak?? You’ll get a tick from a leaking exhaust gasket & sometimes O2 sensor faults as well.

Alright I’ll look into that. I didn’t think of that either!

it is? When I had my 1996 Ford e350 van with the 460, it did that until I added fluid and Lucas stop slip. I add that to all my older vehicles. It ticks wether hot or cold, plus I looked to see if it was a pulley. It wasn’t that, I did a test to see if it were a slipped liner with water, no nothing so I’m guessing it’s the age. I doubt rod knock as I looked at live data and the timing is stable. I’d think if the rods were knocking, the knock sensors would interpret that as detonation and be all over the place!

You can usually tell a rod knock it is not a tick noise, it is more of a thud and it always appear louder lower down. I know very technical terms there.

Was your E350 van 4wd? The driveline lash is normal due to the extra propshaft and transfer case. Usually only happens when you let off the pedal or if you are coasting and then suddenly apply acceleration.

To be more clear the weak spot is in the downpipes below the flange where the exhaust manifold joins the downpipe... In the section connecting to the cats at the very top.... Also at the Y but that is further back behind the cats. You could have a leak big enough not to close off with heat. Very common issue.

One more source of the tick is SAI valves not closing and allowing exhaust gasses to flow back through the SAI air pump... You don't mention if you have SAI... This case the tick could be accompanied by a low burble sound... I also solved a minor tick by tightening the bolts where the brass SAI tubes go into the heads.
