ATF flush, oil pan, fuel filter swap, tune up
After several posts and looking over past posts i am going to do the ATF flush on the Disco I w/154k on her. I want everything she has left so why not give this a shot. Should I just plan on pulling the pan and giving it a cleanse after the flush or leave it alone if the old girl starts up after the cleanse? She has always had dino oil up to the last change and it was probably not changed every 3k knowing the prior owner. Just curious. I assume there is an oil pan gasket that should also be replaced? As for the fuel filter, it needs changed. After seeing MIke say it should be changed once a year I almost soiled myself b/c I am pretty certain it hasn't been changed in at least 100k. Is this fairly simple using the kit, just making sure I know what I am getting into. Finally, I have the Magnecore 8mms, need plugs and cap and rotor. Are original parts a necessity for the cap and rotor? Thanks guys, you are always a tremendous help and I am anxious to get the girl running a little smooter

It will never hurt to drop the pan, and if you are willing to it is a good thing, You will need to replace the gasket.
You will not be able to remove the fuel filter, it will be too rusted.

Is a kit that will allow you to change it
I have seen discomike say you should always use OEM rotor/caps, Magnacore 8mm are the best wires you can get.
For plugs use bosch platinum +4s even if the autoshop says they are wrong

Sorry to hear about your pants!!!
Yes, you will be alot better off with a factory cap and rotor, also be very careful removing the rotor, low shaft damage can be caused if pried off.
I wouldn't worry about pulling the pan, unless it is leaking cause very few have issues after a flush and if yours is one of then your oil pressure light will let you know first.

Just out of curiosity, what happens if I don't change the fuel filter? (Mind you I have every intent of doing so) Like I said before it has been many, many miles since a change and I am just curious what would happen. I assume the machine just stops working, right? Is it pretty self explanatory in doing the change with the kit? Any pointers such as having the tank almost empty or anything like that? Thanks again.

Use this kit not the other one, this one has the factory fittings and will not leak.

If you do not change the fuel filter you will burn up the fuel pump, the harder it has to work the shorter its life.
If the filter becomes clogged the truck will quit running.
I say change the filter once a year because it becomes rusted and you will have to buy that kit everytime you change the filter.
Change it once a year and put anti seize on the threads and it is a 15 min job every spring.
No tips to it, no need for a empty gas tank, just a PIA the first time.
