I don't hold anything against them either... More power to them. Heck, if you paid $60,000 or more for a P38, you might not think twice about dropping $7,000 for a new engine, especially if you don't bother to look at book value of the car... so they probably sell more engines than I can imagine.

the short blocks that AB were selling were the last of the Comcast motors, they were new blocks made from new casting.
Yes they were pricy but they had improved cooling (large water jacket) and came thru with flanged liners & head studs.
So yes, 5K was pricy but comcast has since folded so there are no new blocks to be had, I would charge according too.

Default Atlantic british & rpi engine

i reached out to Atlantic British & they indicated that their engine (not sure if it was long or short)replacement program will cost around $5,000 with the top hatted liners included.......however, does anyone have any experiences with the rpi engine by any chance?

Hmmm I've been waiting to hear any news about the program! Haven't seen any news in their website either. I wonder if the "indicated" estimate of $5,000 includes a core charge and or shipping charges? Well if no one wants to pay $5000+ for a new engine, they can always try out a refurbished complete engine from RoverLandParts.com been looking at their prices and they seem pretty reasonable, and supposedly there's a 66% discount of fedex fright shipping charges... has anyone tried them out before?

I believe Roverlands engines are used, not refurbished. Low mileage, but used. That means you'll get to the head gaskets at some point down the road.

I have always found it amazing that every time I look at engines from Roverlands used engines they all seem to have roughly 60k on them, no matter what the years is.

"Each Land Rover engine undergoes a rigorous inspection and preparation process, including: 1) Test running the engine prior to dismantling the truck. 2) Removing the oil pan. 3) Cleaning the oil sump pickup. 4) Checking the main bearings. 5) Re-sealing the oil pan. 6) Removing the valve covers, cleaning and inspecting the heads. 7) Replacing and re-sealing the valve covers. 8) Capping all of the air sensitive openings. 9) Pressure washing and detailing the engine."
