So true!

They will send email after email asking how the product performed and if you reply then the emails are never ending. They seem to enjoy tooting their own horn, but the second you send a reply that the product needs returned or anything and..................nothin.

Which reminds me that I still have a D2 headlight switch in the box never opened if someone would like a good deal. I understand not doin electronics refunds once they're opened or been used, but mine is still in the box they shipped it in!

I had one of these 4.6 shortblocks with tophats from Atlantic British installed as a replacement for my 4 liter original engine with a cracked cylinder in my 2001 D2.

I'm very sad to report that the engine failed on me after almost exactly 2 years and about 20k-25k miles. (can't check the odo since the truck carcass is still at the shop)

The warranty on the part is 1 year. Atlantic British refused to talk to me when I called to ask them if they were interested in getting the motor back to determine cause of failure.

I'm very curious to know if I'm the first unluckiest guy on the planet or if other's have had quality issues with these motors. I took very good care of mine in terms of oil changes, and watching coolant. I didn't tow heavy loads.

Exact cause of failure is unknown....but it's in the bottom half of the engine....oil in cylinder 5. I'm not going to pay for an autopsy.

Just a heads up that these things are not the 2nd coming and 1 year isn't very long to be protected for such a large investment. The snub from Atlantic British is really the nail in the coffin for me.

Wow that totally sux . This failure should not be because of mis use or lack of maint. AB should realize that it is possible they had a bad block or component. I guess this shortens the list to only 2 Good LR focused companies that will stand by their motors....

Anyone contemplating a Atlantic British motor needs to pound this question into them - Why and what are you going to do if my motor detonates right after the 1 yr warranty....

"Atlantic British refused to talk to me when I called to ask them if they were interested in getting the motor back to determine cause of failure." this is utterly crazy! Seems to me they would want to diagnose for future possible rebuild process. You did not even mention I want a new motor on you bastards! This really pisses me off and Atlantic British ---- you apparently Sux @$$ at anything other than parts supply - I will remember this next time I contemplate any order placement!

Peter who did you ask to talk to there regarding this? Did you try to get to someone higher up in the organization?

Peter you should try calling them back, ask to speak to a manager and record the entire conversation so we can see for ourselves how their customer service is. This could damage their reputation big time and knowing this might make them flex in your favor. Dont tell them you are recording them though. Sorry to hear about this though.

i "believe" it is illegal to record someone if they don't know it.
I think that is way "they" always say this call is being recorded when company's call you.

Very big laws suite here a few years ago because Dunckin Donuts were recording employee and customer conversation at the registers,
without there knowledge. Now they have signs say you are on video but no audio is being recorded.

there are one party states and two party consent states.
ab is in new York, a 1 party state so it is legal. only one party involved must consent to a recording. the other party need not even be asked.

+1 on that. As long as you know you are recording then you are good

Well I correct myself then. When you first get on the phone notify them that the conversation "may" be recorded then proceed with the conversation. Either way Id like to hear what AB has to say about this issue.
