Default Aux input for alpine head unit

Dear All,

I want to add an auillary input socket to the front of my alpine head unit and I need assistance with how this is wired internally.

Has anybody done this and if so could you help my understand the wiring arrangement. Fitting the socket onto the front of the unit will be rather straight forward however, I would like to understand the wiring and where I need to solder them internally.

I appreciate any assistance.

Regards

Thanks BCF,

I am aware of this company and have seen their adds before. As I live in Sweden I would have to send my head unit to the UK to get this modification. I have electronics experience so If I was able to get a wiring diagram or photo I could do this myself for a fraction of the cost.

If there is anybody who has had this mod and could give me a wiring diagram and parts list and/or a internal photo, I would be very grateful.

Regards

If you have the factory CD changer under the passenger front seat, Atlantic British sells a little box that allows you to disconnect the Changer and hook that wire to a module that has Red/White RCA inputs on it. The kit comes with a cord that is a headphone MALE on one end(for your iPod) and red/white RCA MALES on the other end (for the new box under the seat.) I installed this and love it. I also installed a BELKIN wireless blutooth music receiver in the cargo area to eliminate the need for the wire to be connected to my iPod. Now I have Blutooth enabled factory system. NICE!

CDs are rather pointless these days anyways...You'll never miss the changer. I dont.

Kfx, do you have links to where we can find the box and Bluetooth device? I'm interested in getting a similar set up in mine, thanks!

I went with this:

Land rover RAnge rover discovery iPod iPhone interface adapter with aux audio input rasio mp3

It hooks up to an iPod I have in the console and plays from any of 5 playlists, controlled on the head unit (discs 1-5). The interface has an AUX/RCA input (disc 6) that's hooked up to the iphone dock in my change drawer.

G150driver, am I understanding this correctly that the device that connects to your Ipod can also connect to other devices, using no Ipod using the RCA jacks or Aux jack for the audio in?

Yes. It can be configured a few different ways depending on how you set the dip switches. If you set it up for use with AUX input, the first 5 disc buttons on the head unit access playlists on an iPod/iPhone. And the disc 6 button plays whatever you hook up to the RCA jacks on the interface device. I might use it to add sat. radio one day...
