Default Awe Crap! Stuck with a toddler on board!!

So... My 2 1/2 year old son is in a full blown monster truck phase and every other word is Grave Digger! He loves to ask his daddy to take him off roading.. Looks like daddy got a little too confident in his old school Rovah today!!!

Nothing like walking out over a mile in 18" deep wet marsh, 96 degree florida sun, carrying a 40 pound toddler, in a black shirt and hat!.. I know, I f***ed up, no trail buddy, took a chance, but I only have one Rule when playing in the mud with my son. In the rare event of total disaster I should never be more than 1 mile walking distance from some form of civilization. And of course, today, the worse case scenario happened and I had to walk out with him on one arm. We made it to a main road and I had already called the cab so we only waited 15 mins before for the cab and he took us home so I could drop off the kid, call a friend with a bigger truck, and go dig my D2 out...

Half way there:

Nicely done! Good rule too, I've made that walk before. But it was without the toddler and in the snow. It's always good to have a backup plan.

Life Lessons. Good work.
You are braver than I was with my Rover.
That mud is fearsome.
Glad no gators were around.

Great photos to document the event. Thanks for sharing.

For the record, I would have tried that spot too!

PS: Did it mash your front bumper? Looks like the Fog Light Surround is hanging.

Ohh yes, smashed the front bumper good and bent the exhaust while pulling it out backwards. But that was all stuff on the list anyway, now I have a good excuse for those steel bumpers.

I've been through this same trail several times and never had an issue. We've had some unusually heavy rains and I had thought it would of dried up enough. I was wrong, and that little creek was super soft sand and mud. As soon as I hit it I was center high with all four wheels churning water.

Too awesome

The decision to leave the vehicle behind is always a nerve racking one for me

At lease it looks like you have been rocking it! I would leave that mud on for a week and drive it to work like that. No shame in being recovered by a Blazer. It usually takes 2 Jeeps in tandem to pull me out. But at least now there is an early 2000s Range Rover in my group, so we are of comparable weight.
