Default Backdate headlights

I know I saw a thread on this a while ago, but now I can't find it. Is it possible to swap the headlights from a 99-02 discovery to a 03-04? I prefer the look of the older, retro-y style square lights, plus they'll never fog up! How hard can it really be...

All I know is that the post-facelift headlights are easy to pop out and steal (not bolt in properly?) vs. the pre-facelift headlights.

I added HId's to my 01 glass headlights and they are by far better than the 0304. The 0304 have a better look maybe more stylish but nothing beats the durability

Pre-facelift headlights also just snap in. It helps to have the hood open to remove them but there are no bolts to unfasten. The turn signal is held in by a sheet metal screw.

OP - check out some guides for converting from the old to new styles and see how you can reverse engineer. I'm guessing you could find someone who would be interested in upgrading to the newer headlights - just swap out the components with them.

All good feedback on the backdate lights, thank you for the info. I’ll post back if I ever end up getting around to it. If anyone has more to offer on the wiring side of things, let me know

Having both, I can attest that there would definitely be a fair amount of wiring involved since the connections and locations are very very different. Agreed though, I've been thinking about doing the same thing and selling my un-foggy 03-04 headlights to fund the swap.

I think pulling apart 03/04 headlights and retrofitting HID projectors and then resealing them really good is the way to go...the HID route in the 99-02 lights is marginal at best and not legal and due to the fluted glass a retrofit option isn't viable either. Light output is pretty good for the 99-02 with quality halogen bulbs but I spend a lot of time in very dark areas and have had a few too many close calls with elk and moose of late that I'll take the added light output and sacrifice some of the durability..

I guess for me it’s really a fashion over function thing. Something about the 03-04 lights I just don’t like.
