Default Backup Camera / Parking Sensors

Has anyone installed either a backup camera with a small screen (not covering vents, AC control, or transmission/transfer case controls) or parking sensors that would prevent the big blind spot created by the spare tire and 2 inch lift? Since I have a steel bumper coming in soon I would like some type of warning system to help prevent accidents.

I installed the LR accessory park sensor kit last year. It works… great. Shocked actually how good (its like the rear pdc on an lr3). I posted about it here w some pics —->>

Use the search feature of this forum. You'll almost always find what you need.

I combined a GPS with a backup camera:

Parking Sensors:

My dash looks a little bit different today then it did when I did those earlier write-ups:

I have an Android-based 1.5 DIN head unit, a camera mounted inside the rear glass off the bottom of the third brake light, and LED spots that come on in reverse gear when the headlights are on. All pretty simple stuff that is well documented all over this forum.

does it wire into the factory head unit? I plan on replacing it soon but like the idea of a factory solution.

How could it? The standard and even the "high line" stock units don't have screens that could display a camera feed.

Have not installed parking sensors but would love to.

But I have installed a super cool reverse camera, it's a replacement rearview mirror with a dashcam as well. This is the product I bought but it's been out of stock basically since I got it:
Amazon Amazon
-- my very detailed review is on the product page.

Looks like Master Tailgaters sells the same thing for like $50 more with a nicer looking camera housing. There's a very similar one on AliBaba, looks like it's slightly updated, sold by Shenzhen SSS Car.

I picked the one I got because it looked extremely OEM (might have literally been the same housing as my stock mirror) and the screen covered the entirety of the mirror instead of just like a 5 inch rectangle. Currently the rear camera is on the body of the car (so, not on the rear door) which is not really great. Both cameras have a digital adjustment for vertical angle but when I put it in reverse it triggers the guide-lines and forces it to the lowest angle, which from the roof of the vehicle is too sharp. I'm planning to move it to the center of the spare wheel when I wrap up some other items.

This is a really great project to do while you are having your headliner reupholstered. You'll need to remove all of the clips & hardware holding the headliner up on at least one side of the vehicle but you don't actually have to pull it all the way out to run the wiring. Don't forget to wear gloves when you mess with the headliner edges, pretty sure I ended up with fiberglass in my fingers during this process.

Oh that's awesome! Currently have the headliner down as I'm fixing the sunroofs and installing extra cargo lights.

The Rover parking distance sensors are only beepers. They don't use a screen.
