Default Bad luck on an '04

Taking a 04 Disco apart with 150k on the engine. Supposedly head gasket and engine work done at some point. I call BS.

All 4 corners of the engine were blown out on the water jackets. Timing cover gasket blew out by the water pump. Was taking the engine apart to see if it is savable.

Found this in the oil pan. All aluminum, relatively similar sized chunks. I can't see any visible damage from underneath or anywhere. Any thoughts on where this came from? Oil pump is perfect. Engine can and does run, just doesn't hold coolant. Runs like a turd. There is more in the oil pan, probably 2 cups worth of this debris.

That's aluminum? Sheesh...

maybe some oil additive? Bearings? Idk what else it could be ..

Ya I just thought it could also be the cam shaft since chrome isn't magnetic? This is crap oil ran for too long as well. With a junk oil filter to boot.

No slipped liners though. Wooopy!

Wow, that's scary. Pop a main cap off and a rod cap and see what the bearing look like. How do the cylinder walls look - cross hatch still there? Any deep scratches? Would have been good to check oil pressure before pulling, but you are past that now. Wash the debris in gasoline, let it dry, lets see what color it is.

Our engines just bluntly suck *** big time. Blame it on the tooling or whatever they are just ****. If it’s not overheating it’s blowing liners if it’s not liners it’s blowing bearings if it’s not bearings it’s some kind of misfire
just never stops

my engine is always blowing up gasoline. all the time. i can't seem to stop it.

I dig the smaller displacement versions. 3.5/3.9 less prone to blowing up

20+ LR's so far and not one has ever had any of those issues.
