Default Bar code request

All,
I bought disco 11 from a colleague but the key has recently gone bad (cannot communicate) to the car. He also gave me a new key but unfortunately he misplaced the bar code. I read that one can use the 6 digit information inside the key to generate a new bar code, could someone help me figure out how to use the 6 digit to generate the bar code? Thanks

Kwasi

Without the bar code, you are out of luck.

The dealer can look it up, based on the 6 digit code inside. They have to do this every time they replace a BCU. They don't sell all new keys.

Step 14 of this PDF: http://www.landroverclubvi.com/uploa...8601nasf_2.pdf

I think I read one time that ************ also had the ability to decode them also, but I'm not positive.

There are a couple of guys on the forum that can do it, but I don't want to go naming names and volunteering them for things. ;-)

I've found that the dealership techs that frequent this forum are quite helpful.

Hello Mike,
Is there no way to use the 6 digit inside the key to get the bar code for me?

When I was still a manager, no, there was no way, but that may have changed since I had to retire 12 years ago.

There is a way, I just don't think that every dealership knows how. Print out that PDF I linked to, and go down to your local dealer with steps 1 and 14 highlighted and ask them if they'll help you get the codes.

Even with the codes you'll still need a hawkeye or something similar to program you car to recognize the remote.
