Default Battery Transplant

Evening all,

Have an 04 Disco, new to me and want to replace the battery (so I know...) and was wondering if there is anything aside from resetting radio stations and the clock I would have to do. As electronic as I've been reading this vehicle is...My guess is I'll simply remove and replace it although I don't know for sure
(ecu reset?).

Thanks

Robert

You will need the security code for the stereo, need to reset the clock and reset your HVAC to "F".
But thats it.
There is a way to cheat.
Drive it to the autoparts store, turn everything off, leave the engine running, remove the battery putting gloves over the battery cable ends, install new battery and the truck never knows that you replaced the battery.

I've had my battery disconnected many times for over 15 minutes and never had to punch in the radio code. The head unit was also pulled for a good 45 minutes during the iPod adapter install, no radio code needed. I did however, get it from the dealer, just in case.

My factory stereo needed the code if I even looked at the battery. Ok, slight exaggeration but I always had to put the code in when I disconnected the battery. I always wondered what would happen if the battery was removed with the engine running.

Funny this should come up. I just replaced my battery two days ago. Got the HVAC reset, but what about the stereo? Security code?

If the code is not in with your owner manual then you'll need to call the dealer with your VIN code to get the security code for the stereo. It will say CODE in the display if a security code is needed for the stereo to work again after the battery is disconnected.

D1's needed the radio code when having a power loss, D2's for the most part don't as long as it is not for an extended period of time.

I had my power disconnected for probably an hour. Now, my radio works, but sounds very fuzzy. Are these two things possibly connected? It sounded fine before.

NO.
The need to reset the radio with the code only allows the radio to be reactivated and has nothing to do with the fuzzy noise.
