Default Beauty and a Beast

Some of you may know that I sold ChanchoVerde this week. I spent a ton of money on a new transmission and drive shaft and then found out that I needed to replace the t/case as well. The general fund was dangerously low. Chanchoverde is in good hands and I look forward to the new owner frequenting these forums in the near future.

So I get up this morning at 3:45 and drove 2 hours to a small town in Arkansas where I caught a puddle jumper flight to Memphis, TN. I bought a beautiful rig who has no name at this time. I'm sure I'll come up with a good name soon. The sellers met me at the airport and I took possession of a 2001 SE7 with 137,XXX.

So I get out on the road for my six hour drive back home and the "Service Engine Soon" light comes on. Rig drove great all the way home without a single problem. I stopped by AutoZone on my way into town and got these codes:

1. P1300- Manufacturer control code ignition system or misfire.

2. P0303- Cylinder 3 misfire detected

3. P0307- Cylinder 7 misfire detected,

4. P0300 Random/Multiple cylinder misfire detected (pending) repeats back to P0303

Can one of the Code Wizards translate for me please?

Also wanted to ask anyone with the A.C.E. option what fluid they use. The workshop manual says to use DEX II or DEX III. So I filled up the reservoir with DEX/MERC. Please let me know if there is something better that I should be using. A.C.E. is a very cool option on my rig and helps the Disco hug the road around corners.

2001 SE7 137,XXX Bonatti Grey with Lightstone Trim.

You just need a tune up.
Congrats on the new purchase, I thought for sure you would get a DI.

Thanks Phil. I had a couple of DIs in my sights but this one jumped up out of nowhere and the deal was too good to pass up.

Very nice Rover, good luck!

I didn't know ACE used fluid... I guess I'd better see if mine needs any, eh?

Two more things:

Owner hands over a bag today as I was leaving the airport. Bag contains 8 Bosch Platinum-IR (Iridium) plugs. Those suckers are almost $10 bucks a piece. Nice little gift if you ask me. I'll follow up with some Magnecor 8mm wires and this rig will be right as rain.

The previous owner left some brand new RainX windshield wipers in the Disco for me but he bought the wrong ones. When I was at AutoZone today, they could not find any wipers to fit the Disco. I have never had to replace the wipers so would someone please let me know which ones to use?

Thanks for the help guys.

Ditto on the tune up, and dont trust any of the po's to have done maybe what they should have.........protect your investment and give her a good 60k service.

Guess he was either very nice or eager to get rid of it or anything that was related to it !!!

Buckle up, but I'm sure since you've been around, that you know you're in for a ride

Tune-up is a good start and money well spent if it doesn't fix anything.

Ace uses power steering fluid. A flush isn't a bad idea either. suck-up what is in the bottle and replace with fresh. start engine and let idle for a few minutes, suck-up and replace fluid and repeat 4-5 times. You'll see the oil get clearer every time.

P.S, I like the color too.

Have to use silblades or go to the dealer for the wiper blades. Some have just swapped arms with a D1 so you can use regular blades.
