Default Been sitting a while

I just bought a 2004 D2 140k miles off the PO’s ex wife. She doesn’t know much about what he did but she said he spent a lot of her money on it. She says it sat for a year in their garage while the divorce was happening then she had it trailered to her new home where I bought it. It didn’t run when I bought it but a fuel pump and getting the K & N off it and replacing with factory’s it box and filter got it started. Yesterday when it first started the idle went from 700 to 2000 pretty consistently, I pulled the IACV and cleaned it and installed it today. The idle now does not go up and down but starts high about 2000 and slowly falls to stall. Would it sitting without a battery for a year so anything to the idle and is there anything I can do? New plugs and wires, cleaned MAF, checked for vacuum leaks, changed oil and filter.

K&N filters are known to be MAF killers. Unplug the MAF and see if ti runs ok. It will die the first time, start it again and see if it runs.

Default Been sitting.

I didn’t have the scanner to get codes, but I did this afternoon. I only had a few minutes, wife knows that “I just need a few minutes means I need 3 hours” I got codes 0101 and 0102. I will unplug it tomorrow and see how it runs.

Cleaning a MAF always does more harm than good. Need to replace it with a genuine Bosch MAF, the cheap ones will only last you a few thousand miles or a year max before it starts throwing codes.

For you guys who believe that K&N filters will explode your truck I will take them off your hands for free. Send me a message and I will give you my address. Heck, I'll even let you pay shipping!
