Belt tensioner
My belt tensioner squeals at random when the trk is at idle.
Do I replace it with a new one from AutoZone for $100 or just the pully for $20?
D1 with 170k.

It's holding tension, the bearing is going bad on the pully. And if I replace the pully how much longer will the tensioner last? And what will happen when the beaing sezies? Will it shred the belt?
for a difference of $80 and 170K on the ticker, I would do it all and know I didn't have to get back in there and do it again. If your pulley seizes, it will shred the belt, and worst of all, it may do it quietly and in trun, overheat your engine.....I would do it soon..
You should never go cheap with these things. That is when you run into trouble. I would say that is the whole root of saying these things require more maintenance. Not really more, you just have to do it all the way through. No cutting corners, or you may get in a pinch.
I have enough problems with mine. I dropped my pan after a flush this weekend. I already had new swaybar end links and bushings, so I did those as well. I figured while I was there, I would do another partial tranny fluid swap. 6 hours later, I had a happy rover and a mad wife.
My wife says that I love the trk more than her. I told her that the trk doesnt give me any trouble, she didnt think that was to funny.
And I havent told her that I bought shocks for it yet. Not like she'll notice the ride differance anyway.

My wife wanted me to ditchher pathfinder and get her a Rover. She didn't have to twist my arm very hard though, I didn't know much about them but I have always respected them. She drives it way more than I do and she's really good about telling me when any little thing is wrong with it. She definitly can't complain when I do any work on it, but she does get on my case a little about"your Land Rover friends"on the computer.
