Default best $ource for expansion tank?

my new cap separated, while trying to remove the pos, I cracked the threaded filler portion of the tank
so do I have to pay 250 for it or is there a cheaper/reliable source?

Dusty1, can you not try get a new reservoir from a wreckers yard that deal in Landrovers. I'm sure it'll be a whole lot less than a new part. I've taken a breeze onto Eblag stateside and there are a few used tanks on there well under $100 whereas new they are circa $250.

I saw the lesser priced ones, but I do not know if they are any good..
I am hoping that some one will sound in with some insight, on those .

Aftermarket or original? I'd take a new chinese expansion tank over a 15 year old genuine one, plastic doesn't age like fine wine.

Didn't you get a genuine one from us? If so that's surprising, but send it back and we'll send you a new one.

Im in the same boat. Expansion tank cracked on my 03 Disco and ordered one on Ebay for $65 + shipping. Arriving today and will install tomorrow. Also ordered a new cap. This I recommend.

You can also get these at rock auto. Pretty cheap too. You might have to look it up as a 1999-2002 if you have a 2003-2004.

I thought that too. so I was in the process of putting on the motorad that I had on, previously. so I could make sure that it was in fact the stat and then the new cap took a dump and took (with my help) my tank with it.
so I will get a new tank and test. but pretty sure it is the tstat. it got up past 200 a couple of times...I shut it down and let cool and both times it would run in the 186-188 zone. I was thinking that I had some sort of crazy blockage(maybe floating chunk that only sometimes blocks), but after 4 subsequent flushes (refill and try again) and a but ton of coolant, it kept intermittently happening. dunno what else it could be. I've had stats stick before, but never unstick and stick again, repeatedly.
but thank you, good to know, I assumed that it was a non returnable/perishable part.
