Default Best bang for the buck on a 265/75/16 was looking at the Toyo open country M/T

Im going to take the 20" BBS rims off and get the TF 107 rims but need advice on a good on/off road tire. I have a 03 with HD front and rear bumpers, diff guards, 12k lb winch, 3" HD lift and rock sliders w/nerf bars on the way. Was looking at the Toyo M/T open country but just not sure. Thanks everyone...

Aaron

Treadwright guards dogs. Can't beat them for the price. Great tire too. No brainer really.

I would say, BFGoodrich Mud Terrain T/A KM2 but, I heard a lot of good things about the Guard Dogs.

I have the Open Country M/Ts. They have been awesome even on ice this winter. I have tried a lot of tires and these have been the best by far.

Here is a picture of them on the TF rims you were asking me about.

I would agree, Tread Wright Guard Dogs will give you the most for your money at around $112 plus shipping.

I'd say most for your money guard dogs, but Km2s are GREAT tires. Though they suck in the winter. But you're in Mississippi so I don't think that matters.

From the looks of them, the Guard Dogs may suck in winter also. I don't see much in the way of siping. Of course I bought my truck with BFG All Terrains on it which have plenty of siping and are terrible in snow and ice. Probably has something to do with the rubber being rock hard.

Does anybody have any experience with the Guard Dogs in winter? Any advantage to the Kedge Grip for winter use? It sounds like it would be very beneficial. I'm looking at possibly getting a set for my truck.

I used to run Toyo MTs on an old truck of mine. They are by far and away my favorite "do it all" tire. They're pretty good just about anywhere, sort of a jack of all trades really. They're very tough and last a long time. And they look really cool. The downside is they are rather expensive.

Dynapro MTs are okay, but they not as long-lived, and they don't provide as much traction as you'd like.

Cooper STTs are awesome tires in all conditions too. My second favorite tire. Similar tread pattern to a Toyo Open Country, but costs less.

As much as I love BF Goodrich tires, I would have to say stay away from the KM2 if you're going anywhere near snow or ice.
