I think every Land Rover owner should own one first. I had a 1986 Cherokee (XJ) and now Jeep is synonymous with unreliable in my book. That thing left me stranded more times than all of my rovers combined. Of course, it was carbureted and had the GM 2.8L V6, so it's not ALL Jeep's (AMC's) fault.

Hey now dont be knocking the 2.8!! I had one in a '86 Celebrity Wagon with a 2BBL.
I put 100,000 miles on that thing with only one problem, and that was the ignition module.
LOVED that car!!
Sat 10 days buried in a snow drift, fired right up with the first tap of the key and drove out of the snow drift.

Those Jeep Nitros are crap, its not a Jeep, its a -ute.

Is that a nitro? It looks almost as tall as the Disco... I was thinking Commander.

Nah it's the new Liberty. In 09 they went to a new boxier style body with a few changes here and there, it's almost like the combined the commander and the first gen Libertys. I still would like to have the good ole' I6 4.0 versus this v6 3.7, but the 3.7 is not too bad I guess. The wife really likes it. It looks and feels like a Jeep. I too have owned a lot of jeeps.

Jeeps and Land Rovers. That's where its at.

So spike555 was right. The Dodge Nitro and the Jeep Liberty are the same platform.

I agree about the I6 4.0L though. Very strong engine. If they had kept (or updated) that, and kept a solid front axle the Liberty/Cherokee would probably be a best seller. Still.
