What do you use the truck for??? Winch, camping 4wheeling, all these thing should be a consideration. Because of the electrical requirements of a Disco and it's ECU's, the bigger/stronger the better. Look at you current batteries specs and get something better, not cheaper.

You can't go wrong with one of the Diehard Platinum's, either the regular starting battery, or the marine battery if you use a winch as well. They blow away Optima.

The truck is used mostly as a daily driver with some occasional light off-roading.

The existing battery is a Delphi Freedom and lists Delphi part number 19001344 and Land Rover part number YGD100850. I bought the truck certified pre-owned in 2006 with 30K on the odometer. I haven't changed the battery since and I'm not sure it was done prior to me purchasing the truck.

Further suggestions?

Thanks!

Diehard, same battery as the odyssey. Made by the same company.

Or is the Gold Series enough?

Here is the battery that I have, Consumer Reports rated it as a best buy.

I've had good luck with Interstate batteries. Last one survived five Texas Summers and was still working fine. Replaced for preventive maintenance only. Not much cool factor but does the job....

Um well I guess I am crazy but I have an odyssey and love it, plenty of power all the way around, I believe it is the PT1500. It is not cheap though so do what you think you can afford, whether it be in your wallet now or broke down later.
