Best BLUETOOTH transmitter you are using on your D2......
I will eventually or maybe I would never, change the stock deck.
I use my phone and my earpod, but sometimes its just nicer to play music thru the car.
What are you guys using that doesn't give any statics? I got 2 in the past and they suck, i get tons of static and I always need to change the station.
I’ve got a Sony Xplod MEX-BT38UW radio with hands free Bluetooth (with internal microphone), CD (I don’t use it) and a USB port for charging and playing songs off my iPhone and iPad.
It was cheap at $60, No static, the phone calls are very clear using Bluetooth through my stock speakers, and it sounds good when playing the radio or my MP3s at only 17W per channel.
I have never read about an FM Bluetooth transmitter that worked well. But many of us on this forum have been quite happy with the GROM Audio Bluetooth adapter. Some argue it's a bit pricey, but in my case I didn't want to change out the factory radio.
I've had a unit from Grom for almost 10 years. My sister had given me a Sirius subscription as a gift so that sort of forced me to to figure out a way to use it so I didn't look ungrateful... The fm band in my area is totally full so I couldn't go with a transmitter. The Grom will eliminate the CD changer. I bitched about the price at the time but looking back, it was well worth it.
I have an Bluetooth FM transmitter in most of my cars. Two of them have hardwired units and I have a rechargeable Jabra that I move around to the other cars, including the Disco. The trick is to disconnect the antenna from the back of the radio. This eliminates station bleed through and improves the quality of sound. I did not do this in the Disco and occasionally have to move up and down the dial a couple clicks. The sound quality in my other cars is excellent, I play flac files and not MP3s and this may contribute to the sound, however I would rate the Disco as OK.
Today I installed this, a $15 bluetooth receiver wired into the CD Changer circuit. The plug on the left came from a broken factory CD player and the plug on the right is a pigtail that came out of the parts truck. I spliced into the wiring to power the bluetooth module and connected the bluetooth audio output to the signal wires that go up to the head unit, eliminating the CD signal. You have to leave the CD player powered on with a disc in it, otherwise the head unit won't let you select CD. We'll see how long the player lasts spinning continually! I haven't even driven the truck with this thing yet, and other than knowing it "works" I haven't I played any discs in it previously either so I don't know what will happen at end of disc, etc. I went this route because I didn't want to hack the truck's wiring. I unplugged the CD player under the passenger seat and plugged one end of this harness into the truck and the other end into the CD player. It can be removed and put back to stock functionality if I ever want to.
I use the the Anker Roav SmartCharge T2 Bluetooth FM Transmitter. For $20, it seems to work well for calls and music. Not perfect, but good enough until I do something more permanent.

I spent $40 on a generic bluetooth DVD/GPS/rear-view camera deck on eBay.
It's fabulous. I cut the plastic of my housing so that I could go Double DIN because I wanted a large rear-view camera monitor. Discos have lousy visibility in the rear, so a rear-view camera is an enormous enhancement.
These decks let you mirror your smartphone, run apps like Spotify for music streaming, etc. There are eBay kits available that let you keep your steering wheel music controls, too.
This is a good option for hands-free cell phone calling, plus you can watch movies with your date when you go camping.
Why would I live without all of the above just to keep some ancient factory deck?
Oh, these units also have USB ports... which your factory deck doesn't have.
