Yes, My D2 has the Alpine stereo with tape player. Thanks, Land Rover. So I saw an article about blue tooth cassette adapters. Sounds awesome. So my question is; does anybody have one? And what is the best brand. Jesus, they're cheap.

Cassette adaptor works without cutting or adding anything. The cassette is a bluetooth receiver directly to your stereo. Stream pandora, sirius radio or I heart radio.

 

Grom requires no cutting or splicing or boosting signal. Works with all factory buttons steering wheel and head unit.
You would unplug cd changer and plug in the Bluetooth unit.

Grom unit was under 100$ - so perhaps a little more then a cassette tape - my phone connects every time i hop into the truck. Very satisfied personally - in fact can’t picture truck without it now that I’m used to it

I had not heard of cassette-based Bluetooth adapters before I saw this thread. The idea sounds great, but based on reviews I found the concept suffers from the same problem that plug-in cassette adapters have. Sound quality suffers because the adapter to tape head interface is inherently compromised. That said, we all have different expectations about sound quality and you may be perfectly happy with a cassette-based adapter. Many people are. As you point out they're relatively inexpensive. I hope you'll buy one and share your review here on this forum. Let us know.

 

in addition to the flaws of the adapter-head interface, the tape player mechanism is typically activated by the insertion of the cassette module. this means that you get some physical noise from the mechanism operating. that also means that everything mechanical inside the machine is running, and stretching, and wearing. which, granted, it would be doing anyway if you were playing a tape.

 

I used the cassette adapters back in the day for CD’s. They are awful. There are inexpensive head units that have large screens that are a better option, or a Grom is awesome which is what I use. Well worth the money.

 

My wiring is optional. You simply plug it into the cigarette lighter outlet.
