Exclamation Best place to order calipers? Atlantic or Utah?

I'm in need of new front calipers for my 2004 D2. Ive been leaning towards Atlantic British calipers but I noticed the calpiers from British parts of Utah are slightly cheaper. But they look different and are painted black in contrast to the gold painted calipers from Atlantic. Any thoughts? Are the calipers from Utah just rebuilt or brand new? and what ones would you prefer? My concern is that if I try ordering cheaper calipers that I will regret it later.... if paying a little more $$$ for good calipers that will last then I will do that.

It looks like bputah is selling 99-02 calipers only, so that might be why they are cheaper. The 03-04 different.

did you try autozone or advanced yet, stuff like that they can sometimes be cheaper on. I got loaded calipers (pads and hardware) for my rrc for 69.00 ea.

Napa seems to carry quite a few d II parts just so you know! Good luck with your search.

Just got off the phone with British parts of Utah - lost my respect...
- Representative was not fluent English speaking.
- Rep told me that the information on the website was wrong and that the calipers for the 03/04 Disco are $150 and do not include guide pins (website says $125 per caliper and shows guide pin kit included).
- Shipping charge just for a brake master cylinder is $50, even more for calipers.

So I think I'm going with Atlantic British for everything. For both front calipers, caliper guide pin kit for front, brake master cylinder, 2 quarts of synthetic dot 4 brake fluid AND LR Discovery key-chain the grand total is $572.15 and the shipping charge for everything is only $20.50! I cannot believe how much Utah charges for shipping just for one part... and they really need to update their website to be more accurate! Im not impressed at all with them right now...

and regarding local autoparts stores, I wont buy any major parts from them. Just fluids tools and light bulbs. Napa does sell rotors for the D2 BUT they do not sell the guide pins at all! Not even from their warehouse. Atlantic British rotors include the rotor guide pins.

Dude, seriously, AutoZone, $95 each with lifetime warranty.

Save your money for other things that you NEED, calipers are calipers, the ones AB sells are no better than the ones from AutoZone.

Looks like Rovers North is the way to go. I never would have expected them to be cheaper than Autozone, but there you go. Plus Vermont is pretty close to you in New Hampshire so shippng should be reasonable. Of course, anybody that really cares about their Rover would by the OEM caliper, espicially at such a reasonable price, but whatever.

Spike: I honestly do not trust Autozone or any other local parts stores when it comes to major parts like calipers and the like. Cant tell you how many times Ive ordered brake parts and bulbs from them in the past, got home and found out they did not fit my vehicle! Id rather spend an extra $25 per caliper for a guaranteed Rover spec perfect fitment.

Ive decided to order both front calipers from Rovers North! They currently have a $20 off shipping charge for online orders over $99 so Ill take advantage of that - helps that VT borders my state so shipping in general should not be to bad.

Regarding the brake master cylinder, brake fluid and caliper guide pin kit, Atlantic British has the better deal so thats where I'll get those parts from. Thanks guys for the advice.

PS: You guys see how much Rovers North charges for genuine LR calipers? $669.49 per caliper!
