OK now what I am going to ask is just a question and not something I am going to do. So purist don't sweat it.
What would happen if you made your Disco a 2 wheel instead of a 4 wheel drive?
A could it be done without issues?
B could it improve your gas mileage around town?
C would it change any charicteristic of how the car would drive?

oh yea, D! If gas is a concern buy a daily driver beater car for less than a grand.

 

that sucks... ive had one, and in california traffic you wouldnt want to be sitting in that crap for hours at times.

Best car id say for MPG is the toyota Prius, which gets 60 mpg, 51 on the highway.
My friend just bought one, o man so sweet. It's a big high, but i mean good for the money. I'm thinking of getting one, but safty = ****.

 

This obviously reminds me (I was a yougin at the time) of the gas crisis of the late 70s-80s. Remember the Bronco II and other small vehicles? I wouldn't buy a Prius because you are not saving that much on gas and it would take years to make up the difference for the high price. You don't have to buy a LR, but you can have another cool car that is good on gas. My turbo Saab is 210hp and will flat out roll on the highway. It is an extremely safe and fast car and it gets over 30mpg on the highway. No way I would trade that in for a Prius. Just my humble opinion

 

its called a motorcycle. $2000 can get you 40+ mpg in the city. besides the fact that they're fun as hell to ride.
