Default BF Goodrich Tires

Can anyone provide some input on the BF Goodrich 265 65 18 AT T/A KO tires. I haveonly heard good things about these tires but I want to make sure these will fit(without rub)on my 02 discovery. Is anyone currently using these on their 02 discovery? Any feedback/recommendations would be great. Thanks.

Mark, I just put that same tire on my 04 disco along with old man emu 2" lift, they totally would have rubbed without the lift. I absolutely love the tires, I've used them before on other vehicles. Hope this helps. Chris

d.m.disco: Congrats on the lift and tires! I hope to do the same on mine someday.

markroll: Here is a cool tire calculator I found many years ago when I was into Miata's. Works with any tire size and will tell you ABOUT how much it changes your speedo reading. Thought it may be of interest:

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Just plug in your stock tire size, mine's 255 55 18 and the new tire size. It even lets you change the wheel size if you go to 16's. I want to stick with my 18's just because I like them, but know the TA's will be about $400 cheaper if I go to 16's.

I checked out the same BFG AT tires in the same size you are at Costco. They wanted $989 for the set (4.) I would go find a used one for the spare. (Keep in mind you should replace the spare too, because if you use it for even a short distance, the TCS and ABS systems will not like it.) You will also need an adapter to move the spare mount so the new tire will fit over the bumper.

BTW, I too have heard great things about the BFG's. Just remember to get the right load rating.

WOW, just re-read that. Sorry, hope I didn't put a damper on your project. Just stating the facts I ran across when I decided on the same tires you did. Still think it's a very good match, and like I said, will hopefully be doing the same to mine:-)

You can't go wrong with BFG AT's or MT's. Very tough tires in my opinion. I have used both on my 98 Explorer and 97 D1 and have never had a flat or tire failure ( knock on wood) in 160,000 miles of lots of tough offroading in Colorado and Utah. The AT's are much better on the highway than the MT's and whine less but still are excellent offroad tires. A couple of weeks ago I ran with a new 4 door jeep wrangler with 18" BFG AT's in Moab, UT and he did very well with plenty of traction. This included the Cliff Hanger trail which has some pretty tough obstacles. I am very sold on BFG's.

I am currently running 265//65//18 bridgestone dueler at on my stock suspension with no problems. I have used them on a couple of technical courses and not rubbed a bit.
