Default A blast is about to be had. Tough week!

I am about to have such a fuuuunnn time with Landy the Rover. In the last two weeks, the sweet girl we purchased has given me fits.

1) Two weeks ago, the front drive shaft went belly up
2) Two days ago, I noticed a large amount of oil was leaking in the front of the engine. It appears to be coming from behind the timing cover
3) Oil pressure has dropped a lot...I will be replacing the oil pump since I will be into the cover anyway
4) She overheated and I discovered massive amounts of coolant pouring out. Upon inspection, it looks to be coming from the water pump

So, this week, I will be replacing the valve cover gaskets and all else needing replaced due to that job, a new water pump, new oil pump, sump o-ring, timing cover gasket, probably exhaust manifold gaskets since I have a small leak, and putting in the new drive shaft. Anyone wanna come help? LOL!

Don’t forget to buy a ultra gauge so you don’t let it overheat again or else this money and work your spending is for nothing.
Where you located

"Search" is your friend. Ultragauge is mentioned repeatedly all over this forum -- along with why you need one.
The dashboard temperature gauge is a joke. If it's in the red, it's already too late.

Roger that. I'll look into it.

The Ultragauge is a great tool but I just run a OBDII dongle to an app on my phone when I want to check in on things. For me, having something displaying all the time is distracting and kind of paralyzing as that's all I'd focus on or what if its like a degree or two different and I'd put too much stock in it and drive it less or let it effect my time off road when I should be enjoying myself not staring at gauge. These motors are delicate to heat yes, but once you replace everything and confirm it's running as it should put it away and enjoy the truck!!

Great point! We drive her every day. Well, not at the moment. LOL. I will fix it, verify temp, and go about my business as usual Thanks!

A Bluetooth USB dongle, and Torque for you phone works great. I use an old Android phone and mount it to the dash. My engine temps are there to see all the time, and I can check codes if they come up on the phone.

I check it from time to time usually around oil changes just to confirm things are still good. Also while you have the front of the motor apart I'd replace both idler pulleys and the fan/clutch.

Great idea! I do have the Atlantic British reader, but would a cheapo one work better for this application? My radio is the Pioneer one that has a built-in phone mount and uses the phone display as the headunit display. I could easily flip back and forth.

Great point. I'll see if I can get some before the rest of the hardware arrives. I have a squeaky pulley somewhere in there, too. I need to figure out which one it is.
