Default bleeding coolant system???

Hey everybody, I was planning on doing a flush, drain and refill to my cooling system and was just wondering if the RAVE manual has the absolute correct procedure for the refill and bleed or if there are some different tricks to it. I've just noticed that on most of the threads where someone recomends a coolant system bleed, usually somebody recomends giving Disco Mike a call. (which is never a bad idea, anyway) Just wondering if I would be okay to follow the RAVE instructions, or is there more to it?

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

I just purchased my Disco this Friday and wanted to bleed my system to see if there was any air in the system. Ifollowed this write up on how to bleed it.

Make sure to unclip the reservoir (after removing the fan cowling -- 4 screws) and lift it up so it is the highest point in the system while you're waiting for the bleed screw to run.

Then just clip the reservoir back in, set the temp to high, and run with the cap off until you reach temp. You can even jack the front of the truck slightly to aid in releasing air from the heater core.

Spike's method works like a charm, but ONLY on a COLD engine! Don't try it on a warm engine as your coolant will boil over and out your resevoir in a huge gush. DAMHIK

I have one slight variation to Spikes method, I alway suggest replacing the coolant cap before starting so the system can pressurize as it should, then when warm, shut the engine off, rechecking after it has gone stone cold. By doing this, as the engine cools, the coolant level will drop as air is pulled into the coolant bottle.
One other thing I recommend is adding a bottle of either Water Wetter or Purple Ice to the coolant system to help disipate more heat and lube the water pump.
