Blowing cold air until RPMs increase
Daughter started complaining that the heat didn't work until she is moving. It was low on coolant.
Filled with coolant and then bleed the system, but it still seems to have the issue of not blowing hot until you raise the RPMs.
I check both the lines that go to the heater element in the dash and one was very hot the other was warmish to mildly hot. Could just be the heat from the engine around it. Clogged Heater element?
My main worry was where the hell did that much coolant go. The head gaskets were done less than 6 months ago.
I ran the truck for a while and didn't see any obvious water leaks.
Any ideas. Possible water pump?

I’d flush the heater core, it’s simple to do & you won’t loose much if any coolant. Just take your time removing the old heater hoses at the core itself. I personally cut them off vs tug on the core and then just replace the hose with 5/8 heater hose.
If you have the TBH installed = famous spot for coolant to vanish from.

It is easy to check, after running your disco up to temp run it for a few minutes, then look at the drivers side valve cover right under the intake host, it will likely be wet. Not oh my god wet but there will be moisture there

I don't think I have a throttle body heater. I looked where there is suppose to be the two hoses, one that goes into the valve cover and the other that goes over to the coolant tank. That is not there on this truck. Mine is a 2003. Did all US vehicles have the TBH?
I cranked the truck, inspected all the hoses, go under and checked everywhere, couldn't see a leak.
I had to put what seemed like a few quarts of coolant back in it today.
It has to be going somewhere.
Its been too cold to flush out the heater core. Hope to do it soon.

The pair of coolant hoses on the throttle body are literally right under the butterfly shaft — you should either see hoses or 2 bung things where the hoses should go.
Its common for peeps to bypass the TB for reasons centered around leaking coolant.
