Default boggers or tsl's on a discovery?

Ok well i went to a huge offroad exposition that consisted of about 95 % of jeeps. There was this one hill that i could not climb up because i couldnt get traction ( stock jeeps with street tires did it like nothing) no matter what. So i decided i needed a better set of swampers. Has anyone ever ran tsl's or boggers on a disco before? How bad is the steering wheel shake? Noise isnt a factor.

What kind of tires are you running? I put a set of General Grabber At2's and I can get up a steeper hill than a Jeep GC with good tires. Depending on what you want to do will give us more to base out answers on. What kind off off roading do you do other than the hill climbing you metioned?

you should get other things like a cdl or locking diffs before you get a tire like that

I agree with llesra, those tires shouldn't have much of a problem getting traction. With CDL you will see a big difference. I plan on doing mine very soon. I am pretty sure you can fit CDL on an 02, but back that up with Mike. Just out of curiosity, how steep was the hill. I'm sure you know this, but usually a stock Disco can outdo a stock jeep in most situations, everyone on here will want to help you beat those jeeps! But like I said my $.02 is looking into fitting CDL.

The hill was pretty steep. After watching bone stock jeeps do it i thought i'd give it a try. I would make it to the top and start sliding down. I tried to just creep up it with out spinning but it was covered in mud. So i gave it alot of gas and still couldnt get it. I dont need to know about locking diffs or if i need one, i just would like to know how those tires perform on a rover.

For mud go with boggers and run 10-15psi. TSL's are better on rock...both will make a loud roaring noise on pavement.

What tires did the Jeeps have?
The bone stock Jeeps have locking Transfer cases (Land Rover speak center locking diff)

It was the locking transfer case that got them over, not tires.

Tires can make a huge difference. My old wrangler would get stuck on wet pavement with the factory tires (GSA...Get Stuck Anywhere) when I put on all terrain tires it made a big difference. I've ran TSLs on my cherokee and with those on it would climb a tree.

Yes tires make a difference but on Stock Jeeps they come with Goodyear Wrangler SR-A or ST 's , Bridgestone Dueler AT's.
The Rubicon is the only stock Jeep that has a good tire on it
the BFG M/T's.

So if a stock Jeep is doing the hills its not the tires, bar the Rubicon.
