That's background - it also had errors for misfire on 4 and 5 - sure enough, one of the two had a good amount "crud" on the prongs. The other plugs looked just perfectly fine, correct color etc. I replaced all plugs with Platinum 2 this time around - just to try something slightly different.

With that in mind, are the Plat 4 or Plat 2 "better" for these cars? Any NGK or other plugs to try?

Also, any idea why the center cylinders would develop "crud"? A mere coincidence that looks like there is a causality?
Have you ever replaced your factory grey plug wires, if not, that is where you should be looking.

Not sure how this benefits this question of using Plus 4's in a Rover, not a Volvo or a 928, pretty much like comparing apples and potatoes.
There is not a manufacture out there, including Volvo and Porche, that will recommend a copper plug over a Platinum.

What does come factory in the Discovery?

I can assume you all have had luck with the +4's? If so awesome. I am/was not knocking what you all choose to run in your vehicles.

On the two cars I mentioned any good tech or forum will tell you to not run anything but $1.29 coppers. Many have issues with misfire codes (one poster here having those same issues).

My intention was not to stir the pot, should have posted a different thread asking about experiences of these plugs from members. OP my apologies.

All Disco's came with Champion Copper spark plugs, and that is what the dealer will recommend too.
Take your truck to the dealer for a tune up and they will install copper plugs.
The Volvo dealer here recommends the same thing, OEM (copper) spark plugs and to change them every 30k.
The only real benefit of a platinum plug is it lasts longer.
I dont like Bosch +4's, I think they are overpriced crap but thats just me.
Use whatever you want, its your truck.
I like Iridiums in my truck, she idles nice and smooth.
Go to my youtube channel and check it out.
