Was there a pre-purchase inspection on the vehicle?

How much did you pay for it? I have a couple of transmissions if you are around NJ. And trans ECUS. And XYZ switches.

Sorry to hear of your bad luck when first dipping your toe into the water.

I've posted here some OBD2 ports so's you can recognise them. Yours should be immediately below the panel you opened just above the pedals on the drivers side.

Unfortunately some selling D2's are less than honourable and they see you coming (in their mind it's a one born every minute scenario) and many D2's are a heap of junk that's been abused however they look cosmetically. It's a shame you've been stitched with a bad 'un.

Thanks guys, I've actually had several D2s in the past, just never had any issues. I appreciate the OBDII port pics, I will look for it. I actually own my own scanner so I am pretty familiar with it lol idk why just couldn't find it. I'll post pics!

I live in FL so pretty far from NJ but let me get this diagnosed and let's see what parts I actually need. I'll be checking tranny fluid tomorrow.

TIP, when viewing a car, especially a 4x4 always take a friend who has lots of knowledge. Not to say that you don't but they often think of or see things you miss. Also always make a 'must see', 'hear' hit list before you go and ensure you get to see everything on that list with no exceptions. If someone doesn't want to show you something or demonstrate it generally they are hiding something so walk away unless it's simple and you can fix it. Problem is if they hide one thing what else are they hiding? (Of course not that I don't trust vendors or dealers - you understand )

It pays to a buying 'hit list' together and keep it ready somewhere on your computer ready for the day you buy again. Take a code reader and always also include a read of the codes as this tells an awful lot about whats wrong and whats gone wrong.

Yeaahhh I know

I actually own a car dealership(very small time). It's my job to look at cars before I buy them lol. I needed this vehicle to pull my motorcycle/jetski/tow dolly trailers with. I should have a check list for every car I go buy. I usually pick up on these sort of things. Let me tell you it was running just fine, I could not feel anything wrong before it let go on me.
