I purchase a 04 disco out of NH and when it arrived I found that it has quite a bit of rust. It’s mainly on the frame and along the sides of the engine bay and possibly along the floor board in drivers and passenger sides. The frame and other thicker metal isn’t to bad in my opinion, some layers peeling but still a firm frame. The biggest concern is the sheet metal along the sides. In the engine bay there is a strip about a half inch that I can put my fingers thru easily. Haven’t pulled the carpet up yet to inspect yet but see orange thru the carpet somewhat. Any suggestions, ideas or opinions would be great. I’ve never dealt with a rusty vehicle so not sure what’s bad or doable!
Part it out and find a non rusty one. My 97 XD = I love because it's the car I wanted when I was 15 and it's rare, but DAMN that rust is a total PITA!!!!! 5min job turns into an entire weekend! I also owned a Westminster D2 which was a project car and a total rust bucket, and I got rid of it ASAP. In fact all my LR's minus the XD are totally rust free and I just had some friends invite me to a beach run coming up. I turned them down
