Default Brake Light Switch PSA

It seems like we a lot of us are having the same sort of issue around the same time. So as a public service announcement I am letting everyone know that my Brake Light Switch finally went in my '03. So it may be time to have a spare in the glove compartment.

I replaced all of mine with the updated switch years ago. I think Auto Zone sells em for like 15.00 (genuine LR part in a Duralast box). Much better switch design!

The updated switch looks like an LR3 brake switch & comes with a short wiring harness/adapter.

Damn it. I ordered one from LR, and the dealership doesn't do returns. Oh well, if it goes 16 years I am ok with it. Who knows, maybe the one I get is updated. Wishful thinking probably.

Default LR3 speed limit

Morning guys...
I was driving my LR3 yesterday and I noticed the as I accelerated it refused to go beyound a particular speed.
When I put off the engine and started it again it went back to normal.
Please what is wrong and how do I go about it?

Default Hunting for the elusive brake light switch 1986 exMOD 90

I'd appreciate anyone pointing me at the brake light switch, how to find it.

You're in the Discovery ll forum/section, but, if you open the bonnet/hood and look down between the firewall/bulkhead and master-cylinder bracket/mounting housing (#10), you will see brake light switch. Switch (#15) in diagram is brake switch. Can be ordered from Rovers North, Rimmer Brothers, etc. Word of advice, buy the original/OEM switch...the cheaper/aftermarket ones are garbage. It's usually about three times the cost of a cheapy, but...it's well worth it. The originally switch can be disassembled easily, too, slide black rubber cover back slightly and disengage locking tabs on both sides of switch housing, remove inner copper tab piece, clean terminal ends, reassemble and this usually gets you up and running. Simple field repair item, the aftermarket ones are nearly impossible to field repair (the inner copper tab is so cheap it can't be reshaped) and usually only last about six months.

Now, since yours is a ExMOD...it could be different...but...l don't believe so.
