Default Brake Pad anti squeel lubricant

Still stuck on the brake job. The one and only small "GreatNeck" ratchet broke while trying to remove that stubborn 12mm 6 point guide pin bolt from the front caliper... waiting for my cousin to lend me afew useful tools to get the job done. So I learned why the bolt stripped... I started with a 1/2 mm socket and the bolt started stripping. Was suppose to use a 12mm but did not realize I had one until it was to late - one more reason to keep your tool collection neatly organized, so you know what you have to work with...

Also DiscoMike advised I use some type of anti-squeel lubricant on the bank side of the brake baps. I ended up going with this:

Never used anything like this before but the instructions on the bottle say to apply liberally to the back side of each brake pad. My concern is that maybe I used to much?

What do you guys think? Did I apply to much or is this a good amount?

And finally my final question is does anyone know the dimensions of the front caliper guide pin bolts? I know they are 12mm 6 point. But I need to know how long and how thick. Haven't taken any out yet and I need to see if I can pick up something from the local hardware store to replace the stripped bolt thats still stuck in the caliper. See pic below for a pic of exactly which bolt Im referring to.

The editor of this pic labeled these bolts "12mm Caliper Brake Housing Bolts" but the Rave identifies them as brake caliper guide pin bolts. Any input into the specs of this bolt would be appreciated.

Heh - that is a lot of CRC. It just needs to be on the areas that make direct contact with the caliper.

That said, a little too much is better than not enough - but be careful not to get it on the front of the pad - it is slippery stuff.

The auto parts store will be your best bet for an immediate replacement for the boogered-up caliper pin. Take the bad one in and see if they can match it up.

But in a worst case scenario I still need to dimenstions. Besides Autozone either wont have it or they will try charging $15 for one bolt! Bet I could find one for $2 at a local hardware store. But I will call autozone anyways. But cant take out the bolt until I have the replacement, once the bolt comes out all the brakes are comming off and being replaced at once. Dont have a second car so
