Default Brake Pads advice needed

I need new brake pads for my 04 Disco, mine are almost shot. I think the brake system was serviced within the last 2 years (not sure exactly which brake components were serviced). Should I just get some good pads? Or wait afew weeks and order a complete brake kit from Atlantic British? I've been eyeballing this set for awhile now: Land Rover Discovery II Brake Kits - Brake Pads, Rotors & Kits Online the price is step but it does come complete with new high performance pads and drilled/slotted rotors. I planned on upgrading the brakes eventually anyways, so what do you think? Autozone is out of the question! I live on a step mountain and the roads are always really ****ty during the cold months, not to mention lots of wild deer and moose enjoy making unexpected appearances on the road!

Have you changed the brakes in it before? I had never changed mine in my d2, many other vehicles but not that one. Went to change em and both calipers were frozen, rotors and brake lines were bad as well. I would go with the kit and make sure to check your lines too.

Already digging in. Akebono pads and i am sorry i spelled that wrong. But you have to use ceramic pads nothing less or you will have ugly nasty wheels and cause wheel sensor problems. There are cheap ceramic pads that say no squeaky noises but they do and its annoying to change your breaks and still have em squeak every use.

and if not EBC break pads, then what brand of pads do you recommend to go along with the EBC rotors?

Akebono, EUR676 in the fronts and EUR493's in the rear, E-bay usually has a pretty good price on them. Any U.S. made rotor will be fine, watch out for rotors from China or any of the Asian countries, being made from cheap metal " dont last long" Make sure to do a full 2 quart DOT 4 brake fluid flush with new pads.

Akebono ceramic pads are the best you can buy for a D2, especially if you want pads that will stop faster, last longer, no brake squeak or dust and not throw the 3 amigos.
How many miles on your truck, have your rotors ever been changed and when was the last full brake flush done?
Have any questions get back to us.

Cosigned on the Akebono pads, get them at RockAuto as they have the best price I've seen on them yet.

Front EUR676 - $62.79
Rear EUR493 - $47.79

On rotors, unless you're really going to be hard on them, solid rotors should suffice. Modern brake pads don't out gas like the older pads did, so you don't need the slotting to evacuate the gas from the between the rotor and pad when they overheat. Not to mention that the slotting and dimpling creates stress risers, which can lead to cracking or the rotor down the road. This is decidedly a bad thing.

Akebono pads definitely. I have them on my 04 D2, and they are great.

Thanks for the tip on where to get the best deal on the Akebono pads! Just purchased front and rear ceramic pads for $122 shipped! I think ill hold off on on the complete rebuild and suffice with pads for now. If once installed the brakes are still in need of service Ill get the performance rotors.

Mike my Disco has 130K. I'm not sure how old the rotors are, all I know is that the brakes were serviced within the last few years (as according to documents) but I have no idea which components were serviced exactly.

I purchased a Land Rover workshop manual rave CD from ebay a while back and just tried opening up the rave files on the disk but its not working.... think I got ripped off. Does anyone have a complete download link for the D2 Rave that I can have?
