Brakes: How firm is firm?
As you may or may not know, I recently replaced the brakes and rotors. Huge difference in stopping and - because the previous rotors were unevenly worn - smooth!
I was happy... until, last week, I drove a brand new Ford F-150 and those brakes were as firm! I mean, they barely needed to be pressed to stop that truck. Granted, it had huge brakes compared to our DII, but it made me think that I should re-bleed the brakes, but this time with a helper.
So, I had my wife do the pressing, etc. I saw a couple of really tiny air bubbles come out, but not sure that would have made a huge difference. Also, the fluid was clean from the "first drip." Not sure it made a huge difference. Still stopping is better than before, but I only feel a really firm pedal when the car is off and I pressed the pedal. When the car is on, I don't think I would characterize the pedal as "firm."
I really need to drive another D2 to compare I guess.

I did it twice. First when I did the brakes and rotors and again this past weekend. I followed the order stated in the RAVE and, of course, waited to see the new, clear liquid come out before rerightening the bleed screw and moving on to the next wheel.

they are all a little soft. even compared to my classic the D2 feels soft.
That's good to hear, because it doesn't feel spongy and non-responsive, but it's definitely nowhere near the "brick" wall that that F-150 felt like. I know it's a different car, but man I was lovin' those brakes on the Ford.
Thanks!

Rovers brakes are way under sized for the size of our Disco, they are always sorter then most others and yes, if you replace all 6 rubber brake hoses with stainless steel it will have more firmness.
