Glad you found it. Now remember that you do NOT have ABS until you fix the problem and replace the fuse.
Make sure that you tell anybody who drives the truck that they will not have ABS.
And if you sell it you must replace the fuse and disclose the ABS problem.

By pulling the fuse you are "unpluging" the ABS module. If it doesnt have power then it cannot give you problems.

Hi Spike555

I have a similar problem to jared, my 1996 Disco's brakes push back, but the abs warning light does not come on. ( the abs warning light is on when you start the car and goes off as you drive away as it should normally do) Is this an abs problem or something else as it happened not long after the rear discs and disc pads were replaced.

Cheers

Is the brake pedal just hard to push? Or is the pedal pulsating under your foot?

When you push hard on the brakes, you feel this pulsating through the pedal as if the abs is doing something. This may not be relevant but when I bought the Disco it had electric trailer brakes fitted and under the dash there is the controller for them. It has a small red light which comes on when you apply the brakes. Since this problem has occured this light comes on but it isflashing on and off when you apply the brakes. Any advice would be most welcome.

The trailer brake controller has nothing to do with it.
Do the same as what I told sdsilvere38 and see if your problem goes away.

Wizard,
If it is doing this on the farm and not on hard pavement, it is normal. If a wheel locks under braking and slides a tire, like in mud or on gravel, the ABS takes over and pulsates so it still spins.

OklahomaDiscoGuy is correct, if this is happening on real slippery terrain then you do not have a problem, that is your ABS working correctly.
You didnt specify and I didnt ask you in your earlier post what conditions this happens under.

Thanks for the furthur information. This happens when on good bitumen roads.

Anyway you have to laugh. I opened the hood ( bonnet ) and looked on the left side for the fuse box, only to realize it has to be on the right side where the master cylinder is! Pulled out the 15 amp fuse that powers the controller not the screw in one that powers the ABS pump and then went for a drive.

Same problem ... so it is not the ABS!? I am going to bleed the brakes and then replace the rubbers in the master cylinder as their seems to be more pedal travel. Its one of those things that you dont notice gradual change in the pedal position but I think it goes down more that before.

Could it be irregularities in the new discs? transferring back through the hydraulics?

Thanks for your advice, any furthur advice will be most welcome

Cheers
