mine broke going in. not much torque at all, I was shocked when it popped. no part of it sticking out below, will check above.

if it broke going in it means it isn't seized which is good, try cutting a small lot in what left of the bolt and back it out with a screwdriver

I've always used 1/4" sockets/tools when working on tranny pans...it's gentler on that small hardware. It's a lot easier to NOT over tighten the bolts, and keep them straight.
