the truck got broken into and a bunch of stuff stolen. whoever did it used a brick that they left in the back. smashed the rear pass side up / down window glass. I've put some plexiglass in there just to cover it. got an estimate from a glass place for about $400 to put new glass in. that's a bit rich for my blood and this truck. looking for suggestions to get some new glass in there. head to a pick n' pull? order from one of our salvaging guys? what suggestions?...

 

Ebay has several options from $25-$50. I have not done the rear windows but can't be that hard.

If it's any consolation, at least you didn't do the damage yourself. I backed into a tree yesterday with our Jeep (don't know how I did it but I did?...) and I'm looking at an auto repair shop bill of $750. I'd do PDR but the paint is gone so that doesn't help much.
A few years back I broke the back static window in our Rover and picked up a used one for $75 at the auto salvage place.

I recently had the P38 broken into, turned out the local indy shop had a parts truck with the proper glass... He charged $100 for the glass and one hour labor for the installation. Which is about the exact amount of time he took. Wouldn't hurt to check with your local LR guy if you have one. The local glass shop was quoting $350 but couldn't locate the glass.

 

That stinks. Try Abran or Paul Grant, or eBay. Door glass at my local boneyard is $26.

 

Pick n pull if u can. Same thing g happened to me recently, eBay glass came shattered.

 

Seller ky_scrap1 on ebay is supremely reasonable. I had the exact same thing happen to my drivers window, I think the glass was under $50 shipped and I didn’t have to hunt it down an pull it myself. The install is pretty straight forward.

 

Good to hear about good sellers. I have had really mixed results on eBay. Some great, some bad. I prefer used car parts .com and calling the yards.

 

It's not a bad job at all. You remove the door panel, unbolt the window glass from the regulator, and then unbolt the black window frame from the door. You then lift it up and out. Depending on where you live you might find the frame a complete rusty mess. If so grab the entire window frame and the glass from the junk yard. Then you install the window glass into the door and bolt it back onto the regulator. Then carefully lower it (helps to have 2 people to make sure it doesn't bind up and catch on something). Then install the window frame assembly over the glass. The window will move a little to allow you to install it. Then bolt everything up, and adjust the window frame in slightly so it doesn't leak air/water.

I've done it many many times and it's not a bad job at all. With the glass and frame from a pick n pull type yard I'd expect you to walk out for 50-65.00 for everthing. Heck some places only charge 65.00 for the entire door!!! Which is a steal because you get everything!!!
