Default Broken hood latch ?

I do not know if my hood latch is broken. See picture.

I could not open my hood and removed the latch by working through the grill and removing the cover underneath the latch by removing the rivets that hold it in.

The release cable does not stay in the assembly when I test close it now.

When ordering a new one on-line

there are no good close up pictures.

I'm hoping someone can verify where the release cable attaches does not look correct and part of it has broken off.

I removed the grill from my truck today to take pics for you. You can compare them to what you are seeing on your truck.

Thank you for the pictures.

I think mine has broken.

I've ordered a new one. I would usually get one out of a salvage yard but there are no D2s local right now.

Maybe it's best for this part to be new.

However, the debate continues:

Used original equipment vs. Britpart

I don't see anything broken. What am I missing?

If the bonnet release doesn't work, it's most often that the cable has snapped somewhere upstream.

What specifically are the symptoms on your truck?

Well, mln01 was correct.

There was nothing wrong with my latch. I think the cable was stretched out so much that there was not enough tension on the loop that holds it to the latch for it to stay when closing the hood.

A new cable solved my issue.

For future reference, here is a picture of new and old hood latch.
