Default Broken Key Fob

I picked up my 2004 DII about a year ago and the key fob was pretty worn out and now it no longer works. Is there a universal door unlock key fob that can be programmed for the DII or is this a dealer only option. I live about 100 miles from the closest dealer and the first one I called stated they could not program a vehicle that old. I will call the others to see if they can help, but I wanted to see if there was something I could do myself. I also contacted a locksmith and he stated that he could not program a Land Rover key. Thanks in advance for the help.

Send Roger an email. Explain your situation, he'll take good care of you. Many forum members including myself have used his service all sharing the exact same excellent experience.

I think I paid like a buck fortyish all in, shipping / VAT charges, etc. His fees are clearly listed on his website. Shipping is very fast!

Just a heads up you will receive an invoice from DHL international a week or so down the road for shipping, taxes, Uncle Sam beer money etc. which should not exceed $25. Whatever Roger refunds you for the return of his programmer basically, covering the out of pocket for this fee.

And when you return the programmer the cheapest method we found is USPS.

that's interesting.

things i've done:

1) bought a new key off ebay for under $10. Put the electronics of my original key into the new one. Had the key cut for like $5 at the local locksmith. You could even buy one of the flip key shells.
2) Had a D1 spare key cut for my D2. That had no electronics but worked well.
3) Thought really hard about a keyless entry and ignition but will save that for another truck project. I'd definitely go that way if/when my ignition is shot. what? that hasn't happened yet?

Both solutions were under $15 or so and worked well. I guess if you don't have the electronics, you're stuffed.

Nanocom, Faultmate, Autologic, and probably quite a few others can program a used remote on a D2. I've got a nanocom and have done this a few times on a few different D2. I think I paid $25 or $35 for my last used D2 key, with a new uncut blade (they are replaceable)

I've done it multiple times with a hawkeye too, but it's not as easy, and some others haven't reported the success I've seen, so maybe I've been lucky.

This works fine if your electronics are operational. If the fob electronics are inoperable and you want a fob to remotely unlock and lock your doors you have only a couple economical options, contact Roger (or someone capable of duplicating Roger's process) or move forward with what Jafir has described.

Now, if your fob shell is jacked up browse eBay for a reproduction (electronicless) fob shell and simply swap over your functioning electronics and key blade into the eBay shell.

But a locksmith can only program fob buttons how they manage to do the replacement of the fob.

Lost car keys or broken car keys used to be a problem, without wasting your time you should contact locksmith myrtle beach which provides all services related to the car lock.
