Default Bubbling coolant reservoir

Howdy folks. My D2 has been running strong for about 3K miles with a completely new cooling system (minus the heater core). It runs steady at about 188-190 on the freeway, and doesn't get above about 194 around town, sometimes up to 199 at stop lights. Not losing any coolant that I can tell, and the oil is clean.

The other day I had a squealing PS pump, so I popped the hood to see what was going on. I look over and notice the coolant reservoir is bubbling up. Quick search leads to possibly head gasket problem, yeah? I also noticed a bit of waterfall sound when the heat is on high defrost (doesn't do it if it's low-mid).

I have no idea when the HG were changed, but I assume they were since it's got 140K on it.

I'm going to send oil off for analysis out of curiosity at around 142K (probably in the next month).

Anybody have any ideas what else it could be, or something I should do?

How well did you bleed the coolant when you changed out the cooling system? Start there

Isn't return flow to the coolant bottle normal?

I used a Robinair vacuum pump to fill the system. But you may be right and I need to do some more the old fashioned way.

I hope you’re right. I’m just a little nervous and don’t want to be another D2 statistic. I’ve got a 1000 mile round trip coming up for Thanksgiving and a 1700 mile after Christmas.

The waterfall sound is likely an air pocket in the cooling system. Get the front of the truck up as high as you safely can and bleed it as many times as neccessary. Def get this resolved bf a 1,000 mi trip, could be bigger issue.

Check your reservoir cap. I had the waterfall sound and I was blowing coolant through the overflow tube because my cap seal was bad. Grab one from advanced auto for like 15 bucks and then rebleed the system through the t-hose on top and lifting the reservoir above the t-hose screw. I went through a few screws so I would highly suggest upgrading to the bronze screw, just search it up online.
