Default Buick?

Hello all, I was told that the discoII motor is a buick powerplant.I find that hard to believe because my old man had a 86 regal with over 200k on it with org head gaskets and my father was not one for taking care of his cars
Thoughts??

It is true, it is a Buick. See the history at Rover V8 engine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The rover v8 is not the same as the v8 or the v6 that was in your dads regal. The design was sold to rover and rover changed the rough cast sleeves to smooth pressed in sleeves to cut cost. Pressed sleeves + aluminum block + thermodynamics = headgaskets problems.

The Buick 215 came out in a couple different sizes and was first used 51 years ago ro be Buick entry to the small block Chevy engine that had come out.

What he said, BUT, do not think you can go to a junk yard and plop a '68 Buick engine into your Disco.
