Default burned out headlight switch?

Checked all applicable fuses and then some. headlight work, no instrument lights and no parking lamps no door signal warning for headlamps remaining on. Started yesterday, would sometimes not work when i switched them on, but if i kept turning on and off sometimes it would finally come on. now nothing works. opened steering column and wiggled some wires if maybe loose. brakes work, turn signals work, high beams work, hazards work, rear fog lamps work (using them now as tail lights)

if you need more information as to problem, ask, i'll try to answer.

(Looks like a D1 in the avatar.) I think D1 headlight switches are pretty sensitive to wattage. Are you running "super duper hi-watt plasma" bulbs or something?

Try swapping to normal set of headlight bulbs and see if it helps. Did you just swap in the super-duper bulbs? If you want more light pick up an HID conversion kit. More light with half the power draw.

Electrical items run on smoke. Once you let the smoke out they generally don't work any more. Sounds like you need a new switch, full of smoke.
