Sounds reasonable. But, without pictures and more info...who know? Check the frame rails in the rear and behind the passenger side cat for rust or missing metal...very common. If you are unsure of it's value or how to check it out mechanically, find someone locally that can help you out.

Where is it located? Up north where the frames rot from salted roads? or Down south/south west where it doesn't snow much?

Seems like money well spent if you're potentially avoiding wasting thousands. It's 2% of the asking price for the truck if it helps to look at it that way. Again, where is it located?
