Let me get this straight Darover, you have a TJ and a PT Cruiser Convertable? Buddy, you need to spend more time hanging with the guys!LOL!
Ya, the wife drives the PT. We traded an Xterra for that car, and that's why I bought a Discovery ( to make up for the loss of space that we didn't think we needed and to realise that dream I had for 10 years of owning a Disco). Little did I know that once you realise a dream, it gets old fast. I'll keep the Disco for a good while, but really wish I had kept it as a dream. I'm too **** about reliability and leaks to be happy with such a vehicle. I guess I'll just have to do like the rest of the people here and try to convince myself that leaks are normal. But I still can't believe the disapointment that this truck has been. It's like finally getting Pamela horizontal, to find out she's a she-male.[:@][:'(]

Timpala,
Here's an Idea! Why not just get rid of your Discovery and quit your constant bitching about it.If you hate the thing that much, rid yourself of it. Nobody here on this forum wants to hear your negative comments.I'm going out on a limb here, but I think I speak for most of us.
(I urge folks to read Timpala's previous responses to see what I'm talking about)

RUN AWAY!! RUN FAR FAR AWAY!!

It's too late to save us but don't come any closer.

I would NEVER CONSIDER another Discovery or any other LR vehicle.

Oh, and I would probably not trust any Realtor that didn't drive American.
Saying you would never consider any LR vehicle sounds like a fairly uneducated statement, considering how much they change.

I'm in the real estate business and have never encountered someone as narrow minded as to pre-judge based on the make of vehicle their Realtor choses.
- Except for retirees of the big 3 automakers.

So, what company do/did you work for? And what union(s) do you belong to?

Hate to beat this into the ground, but I agree with the others. I find myself talking to my wife about all I need to do to the truck. The other day, I had a chance to purchase a Tahoe cheap, and my wife urged I get it and sell the Disco. I laughed. I bought, fixed and sold the Tahoe to make money for repairs to the Disco. I have to work on my truck as much, if not more than most on here, but I would never trade it. I love it. Everyone on here loves their trucks, and want to help others fix and keep theirs. If you want something cheap that looks flashy, get anEscalade. Most Disco owners are Disco people. I live in Tulsa, and we all wave to each other, though I have never met them.

If you don't like you truck, sell it. Give people good advise that is educated with reasons. You said it was "too late to save us". You must have a mouse in your pocket buddy, becasue I love my Rover.lll

Lastly, LR is owned by Ford. If a realtor is considering a Disco, I doubt the level of clients looking for houses would be swayed by the car. They might actually be skeptical of someone driving up in a Taurus.

Ok, I am done.

LOL, you guys are awesome. Thanks for all the advise. I really am unsure about what to do, but I'm glad I found out about the potential problems before I bought one. Are the problems just with certain years or models, or is it all across the board? I really want a discovery; and if I have to give up my TJ, I'm going to have to be happy with the compromise. And it's so hard to find a good SUV that doesn't look like a soccer mom vehicle, if you know what I mean. Oh, and I wasn't getting one to impress my clients, it's a vehicle that I've wanted for a long time. I do think y'all are coming close to talking me out of my dream vehicle, though. Again, thanks for all the good advise. This seems like a great group of people.

Here's something else to think about:
Been a broker now for a year & an agent for 4, & my Dad's been a broker since the 50's. Don't worry about some fancy car to go sell real estate in, you don't need to look cool to impress your clients, just remember the golden rule of Real Estate:

"Don't lie, cheat, or steal. Take care of your customer, take care of (yours and) his deal. Be there with your customer at closing & go get your check."

And if you're just getting started in the business, introducing overhead in the form of car payments will put a major hitchup in your getalong, you need liquidity to survive in this business. I've seen many agents glitz out and bomb out all in a period of about 3 months. Besides, if the clients you're trying to attract are so far into appearances that they can't see past your Jeep to see what kind of Agent you are, you're dealing with whack jobs that don't deserve your business because I can assure you they'll likely not be stable enough to even go the distance through the deal.

Just some food for thought, best of luck to you on your career. I might add that we've enjoyed having our '04 Disco but it's not as fun to work on as my '68 Chevy truck was with 3 on the tree

I f you can afford to keep both, the Jeep and the disco for a while ( until most of the squirels are chakin out of the Disco) by all means do take the plunge. My big istake was trying to make my Disco perfect right away ( because my TJ was paid for and by selling it, Iwould pay off the Disco) so I spent more than I had to, to fix leaks and upgrade the suspension. I complain that I spent $4000.00, but I could have just lived with the little leaks and could also have just replace the air compressor instead of taking this opportunity to convert to coils with a full suspension and bigger tires. So that $4000.00 could have been only $500.00 if it wouldn't have been for my quest for perfection a.s.a.p. Cause when I stop and think of it , I have no problem with lights in the dash or any other common Disco problems.

My bit of frustration is mostly due to spending $1500.00 ( that could have been $600.00 if I would have done the Job myself)to fix leaks that are still there. Research it right, and go for it. There's nothing like that day when you'll drive it away for the first time. WHOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
I remember watery eyes and then a sore throat for a while.

Good Luck.

The best advice for your real estate career I can give is partner with a good lender - if they're not straightforward and honest run away. One lie from a lender can ruin a deal and its potential referrals.

---shameless plug:I'm a lender in TX: Commercial and Residential.
