Guys, now that I've decided to do without the K&N which I had been running for 9 months, should I try and clean theMAF to remove whatever oil got on it, or are these things better left alone.

I'd hate to play safe and get bitten on the nose.

By the way Newf....Tried that e-mail address of yours after writting a 3 paragraphs letter, and got the undeliverable message which caused me to loose it all. Don't mean to start with the newfie jokes there, but you're kind of asking for it

I wouldn't touch it. With as sensitive as the Bosch MAF's are, you are playing with fire there...I'll bet Newf will tell you to clean it, though.....

Stay away from your MAF, cleaning it is a death sentence for a Bosch MAF.

But what I found was somewhat surprising. I actually get better mileage without the K&N[&:]All right, we're not talking a lot more, but at leasta full 1/2mile per gallon! based on 3 tankfulls.
Makes sense. The airflow with the K&N is slightly higher than with the stock filter. More airflow means more fuel flow to maintain optimalF/A mixture.

why would you use any kind of oil? isn't it the oil on the k&n filter that damages the MAF to begin with?
