A/C Compressor
My 2002 disco as i was driving down the road today (I'm trying to sell it) The ac compressor clutch kinda well flew off the compressor. i wasn't using the a/c but it damaged the fan behind the radiator. my question is can i just buy the clutch or do i have to get a whole new compressor?
Most likely the bolt securing the clutch plate to the actual drive shaft had become detached and it was just a matter of time before the whole lot walked off the shaft.
Yes you can buy a clutch assy and shims to control the air gap but it is often more than a compressor. In any case you need to check if the compressor shaft didn't seize and let the lot go!
You can often pick up a good used compressor for small money and get your local auto repair shop to install it since there ill be residual refrigerant in the system to recover, evacuate, and then re-charge will some fresh refrigerant oil. Or ask them to evacuate it; you fit it then have them vacuum evacuate it and recharge it and do a full performance test.
If however the compressor has seized it will have discharged metal inside the system which will need to be flushed out with a flush the receiver drier replaced etc etc. This is a different case scenario read expensive.

AB had a compressor for $399 I'm just getting the $30 it looks like the bolt just vibrated out and it popped. i don't use my ac anyways you know to save gas and all. I'm worried about the fan though it still runs even though its beat up should i replace it also?
Even though i said I'm selling I'm starting to think I'm going to keep it after all since i drove it today for so long it got me addicted again.

The A/C is auto pulsed on "defrost" setting to aid clearing the glass--A/C systems dry the air even if pulsed for a short period hence the reason to the auto feature programmed into the HVAC system on most cars these days including the LR. Yes a Landrover can be very addictive, very nice to drive in most situations

Your rover was just pissed that you threaten to sell her, she threw a fit, and broke some things. After all, she is 12 years old, she's almost a teenager; they hate you when they are teens but they'll love you again a little bit after.
haha so true i am 17 and i kinda know what you mean although i haven't become that way yet. i don't think I'm selling anymore every time i try stuff breaks its like these trucks are possessed!
